Yesterday, me and the family returned from a week-long vacation in Carmel/Monterey, CA. I suppose the correct term is “family and I”. I don’t always agree with grammar rules and this is one of them. I don’t have the time right now to get into why I disagree with the rule, but I do plan to cover it at some point.
This blog post is to introduce the overall structure that this blog will take in the coming days/weeks/months/possibly years. The first thing that I will be doing is to identify each blog post with a city in the United States. I will start with the southwest corner of the U.S. and work my way to the northeast corner. I will then return to the southwest corner. The route that I will be taking will be north to Washington, then diagonally to Florida, straight up north to Maine and then diagonally back to California. By tagging each blog post with a city, I will be able to get a visual look at how many blog posts I have published and it will motivate me to keep it up. It also keeps up with the highway theme of the blog.
The second thing that I plan to do is to regularly pick something positive about life (especially life in the United States) and write about it. There will be posts on other subjects as well, but I intend for this to be the main subject in the early days of this blog.
So, with that, it’s time to gas up the car and hit the road. It will be fun to see what happens on this cross country journey and how things change in my life, in my writing, in this country and in this world.
